When there are more pressing issues crying for attention, changing the tamil new year's date indicates a mind-set that is devoid of anything seriously worth-while to contribute to public good. Even more rediculous is the fact that someone who professes to be a rationalist tinkers with an issue that is deeply connected with the religion and customs of our society. Which makes one suspect the rationale behind this 'irrational' act.
Besides, we all know the fate of this change when another party that is completely opposed to this one assumes power in future.
